Alright guys, putting aside ALL the things I dislike about the Google assistant, is there anyway possible to adjust the settings in a way that you don't need to unlock your phone for EVERYTHING. You ask the assistant to do? Cuz honestly if I have to pull my phone out of my pocket Everytime I ask it something what is the point of the assistant?

I just wanna ask it to do things through headphones or not and it just do it without saying 'you need to unlock your phone'

Conversely, what's the point in enabling a lock screen if you want to do things without having any security feature in place? Since you apparently want to just use your phone to do different things as is, disable your lock screen. It's not a recommended way to set up your phone, especially when out of your home, but when it comes to security vs convenience there's not a lot of middle ground.
 
Here is how you set up your phone to use the Google Assistant while it is locked.

Just follow the instructions. After tapping "Device Settings", train Google Assistant to recognize your voice. And that's basically it. Any more questions, just ask Google like I did to remind myself. Good luck.

Because it's useful having the phone in your pocket being locked like usually but asking the assistant to play a song or switch albums etc without having to take it out of my pocket to unlock it...pretty useless if I have to take it out to unlock it to do anything I ask nothing to do with the lock screen security feature there bud.. just like on my iPhone simple tasks should be able to work without having to unlock it... Otherwise it's quite useless 👌🏻

I asked Google assistant the same question as you and it didn't give me the device options settings like yours...🤔 I looked around In The settings I think I found it but I'm not to sure thanks again!

If you need more specifics with screenshots, I can give them to you. I'm surprised we got different answers to the same question, but that's Google.
It is handy to set up the assistant like you want. I use it to turn lights on and off while the phone is in my pocket.

That's awesome!if you had some steps I could follow sure but our phones seem to be set up differently...it's weird, I would like to be able to use the assistant in my pocket too, but my assistant even has issues when I use my headphones too I can activate assistant with the button on the headphones but it doesn't always hear me...

I'll give you steps shortly, but be aware that Google Assistant isn't perfect. I set it up to turn on my lights when I say "I'm home". Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes it says it can't find my lights, but they go on anyway. I never know what it will do.

Ok, here are the steps I used. Tap the screenshots to enlarge them.
I started by saying "Hey Google" then
"Google Assistant Settings". This is what I get:Capture+_2020-03-03-11-15-20.png
Then:

Tap on "Assistant". Get this when scroll to the bottom

Tap "Phone" and get:

Make sure the three settings are on. There are more settings if you scroll down, I have them off but if you want them on, go ahead.
Tap "Voice Model" and get:

With music, I've found that it only works with certain players like Google (big surprise). It doesn't work with Amazon. When I said, "Hey Google, Play Ina- gadda- devida" it tried to play it in You Tube. I have no idea why. When I asked Google to play it in Google music, it couldn't because I don't subscribe to it. It defaulted to play Iron Butterfly music station in Google music instead. What I'm getting at is Google Assistant can be very finicky with how you ask it to do things and with music what players you subscribe to and if you include the player. My only suggestion is to try different wording with different music players and see what happens. Good luck.

Dude sorry one more thing... When I set Google play music as default player (because the built in LG music app isn't an option😑😑😑🤦🏻‍♂️) and I ask the assistant to play a specific song it'll get the artist right but not the song I chose 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ any idea how this could happen? And how to fix it?

How is it possible when I ask to play music from a certain artist that I have saved on my phone that assistant can't find any media when I have 14 albums and 111 songs?!!? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤬
