Just got V60 on Verizon

Frett

Lurker
I just got the new v60 on Verizon.

I upgraded from a v30 that I've had for 2 or 3 years and the battery has been dying fast.

(forgive my lower-case v in v60...it's stupid to have to hit shift every time)

Initial impressions:
  • It's reeeeally tall
  • Very heavy (the more I use it, the more I feel it)
  • The notch is noticeable but getting used to it
  • I miss the button on the back, but that's probably just habit.
It's a VERY nice looking phone externally. Of course you can't see any of that now with the case on it. I wish I could go without a case.

Biggest complaints:
  • I'm just not a big fan yet of these tall, skinny phones. I think it will grow on me, though.
  • I love the battery capacity, but my sleek, lightweight v30 has been replaced by a thicker, heavier beast. Obviously that's the tradeoff.
  • Screen looks great despite the slightly lower resolution. Cannot see any pixels.
There are other issues I have but they're Android OS issues (going from older version to newer).

Weird issue... The stock Calendar and Email apps on the v30 are not to be found on the v60. I don't want to use Gmail or Google Calendar. What should I use...?

I'm looking forward to trying the second screen. I'm a little nervous because this thing already weighs a ton with one screen. I don't think I'll be using it all the time.

I'm going to get a pen to use on this, too. It will come in handy with the second screen.

Anyone else have one yet?

I just got the S20 Ultra and I feel you on needing to get used to the taller and heavier phone. Definitely need to get a grippy case so I drop it less!

What pen do you plan on getting and what will you mostly use it for. Did you ever consider the Galaxy Note series or you enjoyed the V30 so much you wanted to stick with LG?

That looks okay , I hope that is also cool for selfies. YAY

Sigh...yeah I have wanted a Note for a long time but they were always a bit pricy. I'm actually not a 100% convinced I made the best choice between the two. Lol

It's such a dumb thing, but I love having a headphone jack. I have an old truck and also a powered speaker without Bluetooth and it's nice to have the ability to use an aux cord. Plus I have some old Sony MDRs that still sound sooo good, and I hate the idea of not using them.

As far as pen and usage... Don't know. Wacom? I have to attend training classes for work sometimes and I'm not a fast thumb typer, so having a stylus to use with OneNote sounds like my best use scenario.

I'm trying to decide between the LG V60 or the OnePlus 8 on Verizon. I am heavily leaning toward the V60 because of the coolness of having a dual screen and compatible pen option, best battery, headphone jack, and SD card slot. But I am really hesitant on the size and weight of this phone. If it's just slightly less tall and less heavy I don't think I'd have any complaints. I'm just wondering if the weight of this phone is enough to make me happier on an everyday basis with the OnePlus 8 in my hand. @Frett Any thoughts now that you've used this daily for almost a month?

I have the dual screen and love it.
I do HVAC and it has been banged around and doing great.
Yes, it is alittle bigger but I got used to it no problem! I leave it in the dual screen case all the time.

I'm still using, and liking, my V40. They came without the LG calendar and email apps also. Don't really mind the Google calendar, but I certainly would love the stock email app, for my roadrunner account.

Im currently going to switch from At&t to Verizon and I was thinking getting this phone over the Swing s20plus because that phone is a little pricy at $1200. I was looking at the specs and the only difference i see is the s20 has 120 refresh rate and a higher screen PPI. Do you guys think those 2 things are worth it over getting the V60 with similar hardware?
