Question on Android project for beginners

What projects may a beginner write / create? I don't want complex projects like hospital systems, restaurant etc. I want something simple like displaying numbers and time. I just created one displaying time but it's not my local time. Can someone point a link or give some ideas?

I would appreciate any help / suggestions / advice in any way. I'm also good in Java but should Kotlin be learnt since i don't have any experience?

That makes a change, someone complaining about replies to a post that nobody knows anything about. They usually complain not getting any replies.
Of course I can't help you with your problem, as I'm not a dev, and don't know anything about "android projects".
