Can you tell me what this app is?

Can you tell me what this app is? I don't know how it got on my phone and I'm trying to get rid of apps I don't use. Thank you in advance. Android 10. upload_2022-1-29_14-3-32.jpeg

If it's a notification, you should be able to pull it down from the bar to see what app it is. If it's a shortcut, tapping on it should open it so you can see what it is. It looks a bit like an alarm clock.

The icon requested access to my phone. I did not want to do that. But I'm going to go ahead and see what it does. Hopefully I'll be able to delete the app later if I want to do that. Thanks and stay tuned.

What access did it request?

I also don't understand what you mean when you said that "the icon" requested access. Does this thing appear in your list of installed apps? Did you install it? What is it actually called (it looks like "Apps usage", but the name is truncated so I can't be certain - the icon could plausibly be a system monitor of some sort.

That said, if you don't know what it is my suggestion would be to not grant it access until you do. And if this not a pre-installed app but you did not install it I'd want to know how it got there in the first place.

Did it appear in your app drawer? Or on your desktop? Does it appear in Settings > Apps? Is it in your Play Store library?

If this is an unexpected app I'd be inclined to identify it then uninstall it (identify first so you can research what it is - app name, developer name if possible).

Cell2.png Cell3.jpg Cell1.jpgAmateurs, like me, should not be allowed to push buttons. The 1st pic shows what happens when I click the icon. This icon is both on the cell's start up page and in the list of apps. I am hesitant to push anything on this screen because I don't like this "grant access" thing. I do believe I have too many apps and I don't really know where they came from. This one I think I want to get rid off. I can't find the uninstall screen for the apps. I'm on Android 10. Thanks.

OK, try going into Settings > Apps and looking for this app there. That should give you the full name, but also is where you can control its permissions and uninstall it if you want. If it was installed from the Play Store you can also uninstall it by finding it in your library of apps there (select it and there will be an uninstall option).

If it's something the manufacturer added you won't be able to uninstall it, but you should be able to disable it and uninstall any updates to it.

I cannot find an app of this name in the play store, but whether that's because it didn't come from there or because the Play Store search is incredibly bad (which it is, despite search being Google's core business) I don't know.

Thank you. I'll keep working on this.
