there's features on froyo that won't be able to be used on a Hero device....like i said..go ahead..flash it....it will run......but you won't get the same exact juice out of it....
It would be cool if we could get processors for our phones and upgrade them ourselves...just like our PC's ..........you know how fast I'd jump on that and keep my phone by just doing upgrades over and over..
not possible. phones are built like laptops, like a puzzle. ever hear of someone upgrading to an after-market graphics card on a laptop? not likely. they are built to be as compact as possible and every piece fits perfectly together. sure you can change the board and cpu and graphics card on a desk top but that is because you have the large tower to do so. if all of our phones were 6"x6"x3" bricks then maybe it would be feesable to have phones with upgradeable hardware but that is simply not the case...

What does Froyo do? Some of us don't know everything.
A Guy ......the word is "SPECS" ......HTC Hero doesn't have them........trust me...I love my Hero ...but Froyo it's not for our device...
well, considering that engadget shows the Droid Eris running 2.2, and this video shows the Hero running 2.2, it is entirely possible that in a few months we may see a Sense powered Android 2.2 rom for the Hero coming out of xda. It's cool, but I have to admit that I'm happy with my Hero on the official 2.1. Needless to say, by the time 2.2 drops officially, I'll be on the Evo, and waiting for HTC to release 2.2 for that. Nevertheless, after switching to the EVO, I will be putting 2.2 on my Hero if the chance arises.
im curious how good the EVO phone is/ been reading alot of member posts that want this phone? i really love my hero but u know us guys- always like new gadgets.
can someone give me the scoop?
I agree... everyone just needs to accept the fact this is a huge business... HTC and Sprint etc want us all to buy new phones... i.e EVO etc. The software for these devices will evolve to support the upgraded hardware... the realization is phone handsets will have a life expectancy (based on software support / features etc) of about 6 months in production. I just wish the carriers would embrace this and allow us to buy new phones when they're available regardless of your contract situation at a reasonable price.
Of course not. It stands to reason that you won't get as good performance from Hero as from handsets with better hardware. You can stop being a dick about it, nobody is impressed.you can run it....but you won't get the same exact results and what froyo it's really supposed to do..
Froyo will be meant for a more snappier processor with power such as the Snapdragon processor...
the ones for our HTC Hero's wont do shit with it....and yes I already seen the XDA thread about it...just remember..IT WILL NOT HAVE THE SAME FEELING...
One thing to add, I keep reading stories like this these past few days.
Yesterday, Google shrank the feature phone market with Android 2.2 | VentureBeat
They keep talking about 2.2 being able to be used on lesser hardware. So why in the world could it not be put on the Hero, again, I thought that was one of the points about 2.2
sagedil....Froyo 2.2 will have full flash....have you tried using the full flash on the hero?
hero's wont be able to handle the v8 javascript engine either...
but yeah...you get my point...
