I've not seen that in person but I have seen multiple videos with successful bead seating. I think I'll pass. I'm an old school rope tied around the center of the tire with a bar to tighten the rope until the beads are against the wheel sort of guy.I've seen this done in person. I guess it isn't a failure until it is.
I did the rope trick the last time I set the beads on my old truck.I've not seen that in person but I have seen multiple videos with successful bead seating. I think I'll pass. Yeah, ether and Bic lighter, thwomp, and bead set. Though the problem was it took a half dozen tries, and the, um, practitioner nearly lost his eyebrows.I've not seen that in person but I have seen multiple videos with successful bead seating. My tiller has a tire that went flat and lost the bead seal across the winter. The tire is a small bar tread so it wasn't easy to fix. One time fighting it was lesson learned and I pulled the wheels off after each use from then on. I've used the rope trick on a mower tire or two through the years. It works.. not fun but it works.I did the rope trick the last time I set the beads on my old truck.
I use a ratchet tie down strap. Same concept. My tiller has a tire that went flat and lost the bead seal across the winter. The tire is a small bar tread so it wasn't easy to fix. I haven't had tire troubles since I broke down and bought a set of ratchet straps. I've used them for a number of chores beyond securing a load. I now have one other use if I have the need.... Thanks!I use a ratchet tie down strap. Same concept.
