We had a wall mounted phone near the kitchen in my parents house. Dad, who retired from the phone company, had what must have been a 20 foot cord on it. We'd have to wrap it over the phone just to keep it from dragging the floor. Lord help us if there was a kink in the line like that.

We had a phone on the kitchen wall, the cord easily stretch 50 ft. No it didn't reach the floor with the receiver on the hook. There were two rooms that cord couldn't reach and they were both in the master bedroom. The other (desktop) phone in the hall had a 100 ft cord that reached out into the street, garage, back yard and more. Including the neighbors house.
