Root (Port) Behold II Factory 1.6

what is - BH_MAN_Stock_fix.zip what is it for and how to i install it.

it is an upgrade to the 1.6 Android operating system, but it leaves all of the Samsung proprietary stuff in place. You need the ODIN download program to push it to your phone. If you're not comfortable with modifying the operating system of your phone (and possibly turning it into a brick), you don't want to install this.

This link explains ODIN and offers some information: http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-behold-2/66867-how-flash-using-odin.html

This link explains more about the basic Android Debug system: How To: Set Up ADB/USB Drivers for Android Devices | The Unlockr

Hope that helps.

I'm trying to turn on Location Services (Settings -> Phone Settings -> Use wireless networks). Whenever I tap "On" a window pops us ("Location Consent") and I click "Agree". The Window goes away and then it switches back to "Off".

Okay, got this to work. Now I have 2 more problems with this ROM.

1. Some applications I install are "lost" after a reboot. ie., I have an icon on one of the desktops to an application (Facebook). When I restart BH2, the icon is a generic Android icon and when tapping it BH2 states the application is not installed. I still have 49MB left on the system drive.

2. Battery! I used to be able to go 1-2 days between charges (unless I used GPS/Wifi a lot). Now, I'm barely making it through the day (unplug in morning, plug in after dinner). Is this a known issue?

Thanks.

I'm trying to use ODIN to flash this image. I get an invaid image type message. I'm trying to download BH_MAN_Stock_fix.zip. Can I use this file?
I got the same error message. I used the file anyway. Took a few tries (and patience, as it seemed to stop processing but after like ten minutes it finished) but it is such a HUGE improvement over 1.5.

Thanks. I'm trying again. It seems to be taking awhile but I'll wait it out and see how long it takes.

I don't see that a fix has been made to google goggles so I assume there isn't one. Does any one know if it is an app issue or a phone issue as to why it FC after taking a picture and says process com.google.android.apps.unveil has stopped unexpectedly?

It's been mentioned before, but probably lost in all the posts...

The Invalid Image message is not an issue. I think I've only had one flash ever that DIDN'T have that message (And I'm pretty sure BH_Man/Eugene373 flat out said to ignore it)

Some bugs to report. Or at least from my phone.

Not able to receive texts, can send them just not receive
and wifi does not autoconnect when coming out of sleep.

you should upgrade to r12. it fixes the wifi sleep bug. and probably will fix your text being recieved :)

Well if you read you'd know the first post suggesting r12 wasn't even mine so I didn't include ANY information! Plus I had to bust your balls a little. You know how it is...it's all in fun...hope you aren't too offended.

Had you put a little more detail than "r12" in your previous post I would have had some info to Google.

Thanks for the link -- and the (unnecessary) sarcasm was very helpful.

the link is on this forum, just exit this thread and go to the other thread called "1.6 final" :)

so when you say I should upgrade to r12 you are referring to the galaxy rom yes? or did I miss something.
I was trying to keep with the stock tw just because everything woeks like vib and the samsung cam

It's all good...not offended at all. :):D:cool:

I've been on a lot of forums, including a number of Linux forums. It's usually pretty easy to find the forums that are useful/helpful, and those that are "clique-ish" -- RTFL and no help unless you speak Linuxese. The verdict is still out on this forum, but so far I've gotten most of the help I need.

Okay, got the battery issue figured out (turn it off before charging).

But I still am losing Facebook and a couple of other applications after each power-on/reboot. I'm certain it is a setting somewhere but don't know where to look/what to fix. Anyone experience this or have a suggestion for fixing it?:confused: Thanks.

Now I can't even open the Market. When I tap on it, BH2 says "Application is not installed on your phone." Obviously, something is 'stuck' -- how can I restore access to the Market and other apps (short of going back to 1.5)?

Thanks!

Reboot. I found that sometimes the second boot gets all the apps installed. This specific problem is why I reverted back to stock 1.5.

That's worked in the past, but after several reboots I still couldn't access the market.

However, after clearing the data in "Device management" under "Manage Applications", a reboot restored access to the Market.

In light of the recent announcement regarding Samsung pushing a 1.6 update, I may roll-back to factory stock and wait on their update (as soon as I see it's been released).

So, I was reading that someone had tried to delete bloatware from 1.6 Factory and it caused their phone to crash. Has anyone had success without crashing? I was just curious 'cause I'd just like to get rid of Diner Dash 2 and Where's Waldo.
