Desire Firmware OTA Update

My Htc_IME MOD keyboard thingy isn't working since the update. Anyone else reporting this anywhere?

EDIT: scrap that. I forgot about the long press>select input method thing.

The only thing that is has seemed to fix is the issue when it pulls a Facebook contact when T-Mobile SMS's you

Did not loose anything... SMS's etc

Does anyone else know what has changed.... Hopefully a better battery life..

make sure you have Settings -> Privacy -> Back up my data % settings checked before you do the update if you want to keep your stuff.

doubled my text messages, and shoved loads of old bookmarks back in the browser.

Another thing I've just noticed is,under accounts and sync, I now have 2 separate Twitter syncs, and a MyPhonebook sync. What's that about?

I think the MyPhonebook thing is a T-mobile thing actually. I've just not set it up. The second twitter sync seems odd though.

Just done my T-Mob update ,went smooth, backed up fine ,it decided it did not like my wallpaper and chose another of my photos instead.
Have not tried anything as yet, so we`ll see.
One thing though ,only had phone coupla months and got an update ,had an Omnia with T-Mob last time ,never got an update at all ,and boy it needed one.

Rooted successfully this morning, direct from T-Mobile so it was branded.

After downloading this update it comes up saying ...

"An error occurred while saving your data to your SD card. The backup cannot be completed."

So i press OK, then it reboots and starts applying the update with the green icon in the middle but then at about 20% it comes up with a red ? and boots normally but fails at updating.

Any ideas? kinda wish i hadn't bothered rooting now! :(

Just checked ,Wi-Fi no problem,GPS found location with compass in about 20 secs so no change there.
Now to keep an eye on battery life .

Don't know if you could do this before but saw some complaints, you can select where the picture comes from in contacts now, just go to the contact and click the picture.

My back up failed too, but then it tried to restore from phone which took forever so I powered down and back up. I didn't lose anything I just gained all the t-mobile bookmarks I deleted.

Correct I think you need to login to my t-mobile to set it up. I use wave secure so I'm not too fussed about it.

I have the 2 separate Twitter syncs but I haven't done the update yet so I don't think that is to blame.

updated on tmobile too.

software version is 1.12.110.4 though, is this what you guys have? everything seems to work fine, wifi and then back to mobile.

gps navigation worked fine for me before but i never noticed if it tracked location really fast or slow. right now i'm using maps and it's found my location but the gps signal continues to flash; does this mean it's still locking thus not good?

i just used the compass app by snaptics (i think) and it found my address in about 5-8 seconds.

One is HTC Peep, the other is whichever other Twitter app you're using (official, probably).

Was like that long before the update.

I completed the OTA udate from Vodafone to 1.19.161.5, & have found the battery life is no where near as good now. Is there anyway to go back to the 1.15 sofware?

Got this update just as I was leaving the house this morning, any chance it'll put my broken WiFi right? How big is the download BTW?

Just been onto O2. I have e-mailed their so-called "customer support" team twice and phoned them twice. Nobody there has any idea what is going on with the update.

However, I've phoned HTC who were VERY VERY helpful. They tell me this update is ONLY available OTA for unbranded phones (from them). Some mobile companies may have released the update but O2 apparently has not and may well not release it unless loads of people complain to them.

O2 have gone down in my estimation. Pity I'm locked in for 18 months.

Aaargh help! I'm on T-Mobile and I started the update last night. After several hours it had not completed and my battery ran out so I plugged in a USB charger. That stopped the update as it dismounted the SD card. I tried to start again by deleting the partial file and checked for updates again but it says there are none. I'm still on 1.15.110.11

I've phoned T-Mobile and they say I have to contact HTC as they issue the updates. That's not right is it?

Long time reader, but first post!

Im on Virgin Mobile (UK) and still no update out, i moved from O2 as they couldnt match the deal i got offered - Has anybody been on Virgin for a while and have any experience of how long they take to get updates out?

Have serach for virgin mobile forums and cant find anything out - Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks:)

I did the exact same thing. I never started the update actually as I thought I might do it later when I have wifi connectivity. So i just pressed 'cancel'. And now when I go to check if there are any updates, it just says your phone is up to date!! :(((((((

I just phoned T-Mobile again and they say the only way to get it now is to factory reset my phone  I' really don't want to lose all my settings and apps etc :(

WHAT THE HELL!! If thats the case, there is no way I am interested in the new update. It is really pathetic if what the t-mobile person said is true. When I come across these kind of irritating things on Android phones, I start wondering the extra money Apple charges might just be worth it.
