What is DocumentsToGo and what does the Full Version Key unlock?

DocumentsToGo is a free application on the Android Market that allows you to view Microsoft Word & Excel files & attachments such as doc, docx, xls, and xlsx. The full version is completely free and it is a nice start if all you want to do is view files sent to you that are the types mentioned above, but to get all the features you do indeed have to buy the key to unlock them.

I have downloaded the full version of this app and overall have been pleased with it.

The only real complaint I have about the full version is that it cannot create an Office 2007 document, only modify and resave it (with a new name if warranted). In order to compensate for this shortcoming, I have saved blank 2007 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. When I want to create a new 2007 document, I just open one of my previously saved blank documents, modify it, and save it under a new name.

The inability to create or modify PDF files is a little frustrating, but I can always create a document in another format and transfer to my laptop in order to save it as a PDF.

These are the applications I currently have on my phone that are up for my next review. I will take whatever seems to be the top attention getter and post a review on it either Friday night or Saturday evening.
 
I have also had a good experience with this app. A little overpriced possibly but you get what you pay for!

Or just wait for the sale!:)

You cannot create even with the full version?
 
Generally I'm happy with Docs2Go. The only problem I have is in Excel, where it takes 3 steps to switch between sheets in a spreadsheet.
 
I have purchased and successfully installed DocumentsToGo full version on my HTC Tattoo but still I can't open Word and PDF files attached to my emails. The only option I get is to 'Save to SD card'.

I am I doing something wrong? Please help:confused:

Just a question first, when opening the application up are you opening the full version in your application drawer or are you opening the free version still?

Save the document to your SD card first, then run DocumentsToGo and open the document through Word, Excel, or Powerpoint.

Hi,

I never installed the free version. Having read all the positive feedback here, I bought the full version which didn't work; so I returned it before it was too late! Did I need to save the files on SD card first and then view them?

Is there any programme that allows me to view attachments simply by clicking on the file attached to the email.

Hey,

You need to install the free version. The Full Version is just a Key that unlocks all the extra features and functionality for you. It probably would have worked with no issues if you had the free version as well as the key.
 
Thanks a lot Varking; you were right. I just installed the free version and managed to open Word with no problem:)
So, it's safe to assume that the full version will do what it promises.

UPDATE!!! This is now updated to 3.0 and added desktop sync as well as the ability to view and edit Google Docs items! The update is for free for those who already purchased it.
 
Previously bought D2G v2 via the market and then got a refund as it could not update a particular Excel file which I use a lot.
Market rules say that you can not get a refund a 2nd time.
Does that still apply with the new version or would D2G v3 be seen as a different app?
 
I have DTG full version v2.0 and upgraded the free version..then it sees that I have the old key and prompts me to upgrade the version key to the latest in android market. However, once i press on the prompt, i get taken to the dataviz website where it errors out. Anyone else have this problem when trying to upgrade the full version key?
 
I upgraded my pro key via the market not through the dtg app. just open the market, check your downloads, you should see an update available for the key
