*** Official Motorola Droid X Pre-Release Thread***

Droid Pro? Are you kidding me? So I almost got an Incredible but then found info on Droid X. I have been patiently waiting for Droid X which is within grasp now with the announcement Wednesday. Now you guys go and mention Droid Pro? I'll never end up getting one of these damn phones. I'll just stress about getting the best one while stalking forums, LOL.

From this point forward, i recommend only getting 1 year contracts or no contract and pay full price if you can afford it. Its going to get crazy.

LOL, there are always better phones coming out but now it seems its taking less time for them to come out.

No because the Droid 2 isn't a world phone the Pro is, and I think it will have a bigger screen and better camera, but this thread is about the Droid X so we should get back on topic.

Any suggestions for ppl switching over from say... BB? Since I have time on my hands while waiting... Thought maybe I could do something useful with it!

I checked out a website for the Droid X, and it looks like it's going to be on the GSM network, which means you can use it out side the country. The only network that I know of that cannot be used out side the country is the CDM something.... but other than that. According to the specs of the Droid X and if it's true that is going to be on the GSM network, I'll be able to use it in the Bahamas, Brasil and some parts of Europe that I checked.

http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_droid_xtreme-3092.php Here is the specs of the Droid X

and the link below is by clicking on the 2G network or the 3G network and it takes you here to this link, where you can check to see if the phone would be usable in certain countries.

There is a link on the site where I check that gives you the info if the phone is able to be use out side the country, and according to that, it's usable out side US. But I guess we'll have to see if that is true or not.

I have had cell phones, that I was not suppose to get service out side the countr according to the provider, which was sprint. But knowing me, I tried it anyways, I to my luck, I got service in the Bahamas, I was getting calls and I was also able to make calls. I didn't try anything else, like text etc... At that time, I was only about making calls and receiving calls, didn't even have the text package, and that was like years agooooo.... But I never listen to providers when I ask them questions, all I have to do is make sure the phone is unlocked and try using it when I go out side the country and see if it works.

I hope I'm not doing wrong by posting the websites here, but I just wanted to show you guys that info on the Droid X

If I were you I would buy a moto droid from Best Buy or Costco (no restocking fees) so you can get used to android platform then return it withing 30 days and get the X. Just my 2 cents.

That site has incorrect info regarding the 2G and 3G frequencies of the X and it doesn't even show Verizon's and that site only shows GSM/UMTS phones and given it's name GSM Arena it wouldn't show CDMA phones like the phones on Verizon's network(with the exception of the Blackberries and a couple other phones).

Add an addition to your house. Redecorate your room. Read the whole harry potter series again. Infiltrate a cult, become the messiah, then write a book about it.

I tried to sign up on my incredible but it kept giving me crap that my passwords didn't match. My finger is right on the pulse of this thing anyway so I doubt I miss much.

Android and Me has the first Droid 2 hardware hands on! I know this isn't the Droid X but hopefully we'll be seeing more of it this week :)

WOW, that is true. I looked on my phone and saw the CDMA network for verizon, and that site clearly doesn't state verizon.

So if the droid x is not a world phone, I figure it will not have skype than.

I e-mailed that site and asked them to remove the GSM specs, that's not correct and its misleading.

Skype works via the Skype app, it doesn't matter if the phone is GSM or CDMAor where you are on Earth for Skype to Skype calls.
