I only heard about it recently but dismissed it as I only had Android 1.5 and apparently it needs 2.1

I have a Tom Tom but it is not always in the car with me. I take it in from the car to charge it and update maps then forget to take it with me .... :(

Curious.. I'm not expecting the same experience as a dedicated unit.. but any port in a storm:D

coming from using Ovi Maps on a Nokia phone, Google Maps is not as good as it should have been even my old E71 managed to run google streetview, which i can't find for android. The GPS implementation was just better on Nokia. In almost every other way the Portal/Spica is just superior to anything Nokia have (although the N8 may change things).

I think it needs 1.6 to run but using 2.1 here. Just update Maps and it's installed too.

There were some issues with Google Navigator and the Portal but it was fixed in the latest update of Maps. ;)

I'm all up-to-date with Maps, but still no voice nav or streetview on my Portal.

You should have maps already, just go to Market and select "installed" it will show all your installed items with any updates available. After the update you will also find Navigate in your apps list.

If you don't already have maps just go to market and install it.
