Eris discontinued

They will give you refurbished phones.

Still blows me away that this little device still has not been cracked by a Dev (officially). All HTC has to do is make all their phones as tight as this one and they'll drive the Dev's crazy for years to come!

True, but lets not forget, the Eris is basically another incarnation of Sprint's hero, which was another incarnation of the european Hero. The Eris/Hero itself as a model has been around for a little while.
 
refurbished? the insurance i have promises me a brand new phone. I have the 7 dollar extra one.

I asked the verizon guy before i agreed to accepting the insurance if i get a brand new one and he said yes. So they better withhold to that

haha, i still find it funny that people buy into verizons "WARRANTY"

you pay say 10 a month times 12 = 120 for 2 years= 240

So 240 for a refurbished? then on top of that you have to pay the "use of service" charge. SO : 240+ 50 =290 for a facking droid eris?

LMFAO. that s#it to me takes the cake. effin hilarious
 
Well if you pay $6 / mo. X 12 months (before you can get an upgrade) and you lose it towards the end of the year, it will cost you around $120 for a replacement. Not a bad deal for an Eris. After the first year insurance on any phone doesn't pay.

Right From the Verizon/Asurion insurance website

"At our option, we may provide replacement equipment, or repair with substitute parts, of like kind, quality and functionality, that:

a. Has been refurbished, and may contain non-original manufacturer parts; or

b. Is a different brand, model or color."

So no matter what this "Verizon guy" told you, they will go by what is in the Agreement that you agreed to.

Well...being that Verizon has now officially stopped selling Eris, consider yourself lucky if you have insurance, especially if you have to wait awhile before your contract ends. Smart phones are quite expensive and I'm always a bit apprehensive of spending a few hundred dollars for a phone off Ebay and Craigslist :D....you need to check if the ESN is good, if the battery is good...if phone has moisture damage..etc. I was fortunate enough to buy insurance from Verizon even though I bought my phone off a chick from Craigslist.

Sucks to see Verizon has discontinued the Eris. I want my phone to be small and the Eris packs a decent punch for it's size.... :(

hmmm, ok. I have to respect that scenario.

My case is different you see, i don't lose my things.Though i have to admit i have not lost a phone for over a decade.....i can see how other people can. I keep my devices fresh and switch up every year( but NEVER the network:D). They do however fail somewhere inside the requirements of a replacement. While I don't pay verizon for insurance, i still get a replacement phone when i need it. I have, repeatedly and without any dissatisfaction, used the equipments 1 year Manufaturer's warranty out of the box. You know, the stock one that costs nothing.
 
At this point insurance is moot (i dropped mine), if you need to buy a replacement Eris go no further than eBay i've been seeing Eris's sell as low as $120!

Then you can sell your damaged eris and extra 8gb card for some cash back ;)

You're forgetting the $90 deductible. They charge you this to replace any smart phone with a refurb (dumb phones have a $50 deductible). So, in your scenario, you'll actually be paying $120+$90 = $210. Pretty sucky if you ask me.
 
My insurance is $15 per YEAR, no deductible. I used it 2 weeks ago after i dropped my eris in the garage and it landed face down, shattering the glass. I bought a brand new eris at full retail, submitted the receipt to the insurance company and had a check in 5 days.

my insurance is thru my homeowners policy.

I just wish the Incredible was available and not backordered - i would have bought that instead.

Dude... I need to look into that. That's awesome. Does submitting a claim increase next year's premium though (like with car insurance)?
 
I'm a homeowners insurance broker/agent. In most cases unless you have a special writer or the phone is scheduled on to your insurance policy, the Insurance provider will not cover your phone for negligence. You will be covered however, in the event of it being stolen for example from you vehicle. But JimmyRayBob is correct premiums are not effected...but if there is multiple claims your policy can be cancelled.

Edit: Also a $15 deductible is really low, do you have Renters insurance?

DON'T you worry guys i have my ways of beating that system of insurance. unethical my @ss. I take advantage.

i know if they don't have it in stock or don't have it at all they replace with similar phone though. I know that has happened to me.

No, the math is $72 + $89 = $161 if you lose it or flush it on month 12. Month 6 is $115. Come on man, that's really not bad. And if you don't **** up then it's only $6/month. 2 beers at happy hour. I can live with that.

Its ausurion or however you spell it, the company through verizon. I've had the same insurance on my phones since 2005 so I guess the same price just carries from phone to phone.
