CM7 on this phone is known to do that whether that setting is checked or not

you have it set up for performance (faster) which will drain the battery, change it to consevative in the settings where you OC.

It's a CM7 glitch issue that needs to be resolved, the maker of the rom, JerryScript, won't be doing updates for it until he resolves a security issue that can happen on just about any android phone...

Hmmm, go to Settings>CM7 Settings>Display>uncheck rotation animation
then reboot.

The original question you posted is currently in the correct place for people with knowledge on your device to see it. Unfortunately, you just have to give it time for them to come up with a solution.
