    E-Bikes

ol' dude you might find this of interest. The e-bike climate is a lot different out here, in downtown NYC it's mainly crazy delivery people who will run you over, out in the suburbs it's a mess- https://nypost.com/2026/03/22/us-news/nassau-county-touts-crackdown-on-e-bikes-as-nyc-eases-up/

What's the weather like where you are?

Good thing they weren't *tornado* warnings. I don't think a t0nrad0 ever killed anyone.

Can't we just use maps satellite view, zoom in really close and look for you? Maybe if you wave-

    Incoming Google Lockdown

There will be a workaround just have to jump through some extra hoops- https://www.theregister.com/2026/03/19/google_android_unverified_apps/ Better than nothing.

Not new news, this was announced a while back. They have backed off somewhat, sideloading will still be possible with some extra hoops to jump through.

There's always a way. I've gotten pretty creative with some of my installations. Yes sometimes the panel ends up in a location that's not in line of sight while driving, but we really shouldn't be fiddling with it anyway. I have my dual-banders set on the repeaters I use and usually wouldn't...

You should be able to route the cable through the rear hatch, I have a couple of mag-mount antennas set up that way. Alternatively you could use one of the glass-mount antennas and then you wouldn't have to route any coax outside. I've used these, they are a compromise compared to other...

Great, at least their backlog has long cleared. You sure didn't waste any time applying for a vanity call. You keeping the same area or changing? That used to not be an option but now it is. I still have my original call and don't plan to change it.

That's not a bad radio. I've had a few Yaesu's in the past, an 8900 and a couple of 8800's. The main difference is that the 8xxx models were dual-receive so you could have simultaneous reception on two frequencies on either the same or mixed bands. The 7xxx is single-receive so only one at a...

Presumably a Baeofeng, they are cheap $20 radios that get handed out like candy. Hope the one you bought is something better. And there's a lot more to ham radio than cheap dual-band handhelds but that's where a lot of people start these days.

Congrats I've been a ham for a long time, upgraded to Extra a while back just because I could although I really don't need the added privileges. There was at least one hamfest not too far from me today and another one tomorrow, didn't attend today and probably won't tomorrow but I have been to...

Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Running like that with static public IP's not behind a router left those machines exposed. Unless there was a need for static public IP's (like running a server), it would have been far better from a security standpoint to have a router running NAT with the one public IP and all your devices...
