The stock music player is very basic and doesn't have an equaliser. I very quickly stopped using that and installed Poweramp https://market.android.com/details?id=com.maxmpz.audioplayer Its a free trial version that must be bought after 15 days. Definitely worth the money (5 US dollars) and very sophisticated, equaliser and all the settings you'd ever need included.

Not sure if it would work without a sim card, you're required to log in to your motoblur account to unlock if no simcard is present i suppose this could be done over wifi but dont take my word for it.

lastly a-gps is similar to normal gps but should be faster as it uses data to locate the satellites faster where normal gps just scans to see whats available Assisted GPS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
