  • My phone looks exactly the same. But stated this is a Huawei Ideos X1 (U8180) model. I quite confused. On my packing box written C8500S but according to picture its IDEOS X1
Can you define which model is it? :D Maybe China market really sux hard and full of fakes.
Cant drop the link with my mobile picture, but anyway... any suggestions? As i understood the full name of phone is Huawei IDEOS C8500S X1 - really outstanding :D
Thanks nuttmeg for your response. I really awaiting for it. Actually C8500 is a bit different from mine C8500S - the design and Android version is higher. But still, i also looking for information in forums, but still nothing. Seems this phone not so popular at all.
    Got ur links, few questions.

    1. If I already have 2.2.2. Android Version, can i climb higher?
    2. While use Wi-Fi try to update it manually *Setting>About the phone>Online update* but it gives me answer like * Your device is up to date *.
    3. Try to use mobile internet and get some updates from market.android but its gives me Chinese language over there, so failed.
    4. I never done rooting, to crazy for me, but can try if necessary.

    Awaiting for your feedback.
    Thanks
I found this app that could be used to tether through the USB cable (if someone does not like to use wireless tether) on our phones. its free and works flawlessly. here is the link android-wired-tether - Wired Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting. I used latest version 1.4
    prerequisites
    1-need to be root
2-put the phone in debugging mode
3-plug the phone into the computer as internet connection (make sure the drivers are installed)
3- start Wired Tether app (when u start the app a massage pops up that says unsupported kernel, press ignore, the app should still work fine)
    4- enjoy tethering through USB.
the reason I like using this rather than wireless tether because the battery doesn't die as fat and i would not have to worry about charging the phone afterwards...
When anybody is having issues with MMS or data connection dial ##626* > 587846 > edit > ok > ok > ok > done... Your phone will reboot
i let it be for a few day s cause i didnt wanna mess any data up. but.... im downloading a sense rom now gonna right the prl then restore my backup of what i have now and am hoping that takes me where i started but with the new prl. Good idea or bad/?
yeah most of the evo forum on here give links to metrodroid which im not sure if thats what this is or not. im gonna try your link maybe ill have better lluck since its you lol just ike how i couldnt get my ASCEND TO STOCK UNTIL I USED YOUR GUIDE.
not that its buggy its actually very stable i just wanna get the drivers to show up so i can try to get 3g i live in detroit and its been about a minth since i tried the new prls but when i did last i got a 3g signal but like no bars. ive tried trticks to get the ports to show up like mounting in recovery but nothin. and now with cm7 the DIAG code doesnt work to install drivers anything you can find out will be helpful as i have found nothing lol
my whole thing is im tryin to install the drivers so i can just update my prl ive been searching for days and everythin on hofo and xda isnt helping. This is the rundown im not new to flashing but i was gonna have to pay either way to get the phones esn added to metros data base. So i just went ahead and had the full flash done cause i found it for 15bucks cheaper than the talk and text flash they wanted to do in the suburbs. So now on to where im stuck the guy who flashed it put cm7-metropcs edition MOD VERSION The build number GRI40 Kernel version is 2.6.37.2-cyanogenmod-01211-ga3fb399shade@toxygene #1 I cannot find out anything on this build anywhere on the net
hey nuttmeg long time ascend user here and your posts have been very helpful. I noticed for your devices it says evo 4g as well. I got a couple questions about a evo on metro if you can help me out at all let me know tia
sorry bout that last message, i lost it when it said it was "bad". thought i was gonna have to deal with my phone bein messed up again, i am restoring everything now hopefully it wont brick on me....
How's it goin? I have been reading this forum for a few weeks now, ever since my 2.1 bricked while doing the 2.2 upgrade. You seem to be a very helpful, so i was wondering if you can help me do my first flash. I got a warranty replacement that came with 2.2 and my data hardly ever works so I always use wi-fi, so I need a rom that is stable. I already rooted using gingerbreak1.2 and backed up everything to sd card with titanium backup and have cwm.
    On Phone Dial this code
    *#*#2846579#*#*
    A menu will pop up
    Then
Go to projectmenu -- Background Settings -- USB Port -- (select) Manufacture mode
