    Root rooting without AAHK?

    so i'm wanting to root this Desire HD but it seems to me that someone really doesn't want me to use that AAHK.. so how do i go about rooting and upping to 4.0 or 4.1 without it? please help, i rooted my old Desire and flashed a couple of roms so i'm not TOTALLY clueless, but aint got a clue...
