Root rooting without AAHK?

so i'm wanting to root this Desire HD but it seems to me that someone really doesn't want me to use that AAHK..

so how do i go about rooting and upping to 4.0 or 4.1 without it?

please help, i rooted my old Desire and flashed a couple of roms so i'm not TOTALLY clueless, but aint got a clue with this

Why can't you use the AAHK?

Best talking to Scotty or DURX. These oldies were here before the hack kit so should be able to help you out.
