Most people are chosen as guides and then made mods later. I can put your name on the list of possible guides, but it is really up to the admin.

Dunno. All those apps that change something, whether it be your boot screen, Home screen, icons, etc. are just recipes for disaster, in my opinion. One wrong move and you'll be forced to do a hard reset, most likely, to correct it.

So I don't use them.

you dont open the app, after installing, hit the home soft key on your screena nd a menu should pop up asking which app you would like to use to complete the action. there should be sense, home, and helix. choose helix, and if you like it, set it to default
