metropcs lg optimus warranty question

I have a metro pcs LG optimus m. Its been having issues charging, where I have to jiggle the charger around until its charging and be very careful as I set it down or it will stop charging. Also after fully charging the battery it only lasts 4-5 hours even when I barely use it :/ it used to go almost all day. I've only had it 4 months so its definitely under warranty however I dropped it within the first week which resulted in a crack down the screen. It hasn't impaired function whatsoever so I didn't try about it but now id like to know if that would make me ineligible for a warranty swap.

I have metro insurance however I'm pretty pissed that I paid $200 for the phone which is now $99 and pay $5 a month for insurance only to be told there is a $69 deductive. That's a rip off if you ask me.

I don't want to sound crass, but that is the way the market goes. You buy a computer and after the 1st year you can buy a newer and better (more memory, hard disk space, better processor, etc) one for half the price. The same goes for our phones (in a much shorter time span though). I paid $200, with a $50 rebate bringing it to $150, at the end of February. Like you said, it's now $100. I expect that. As far as the insurance, it's a gamble we all play with insurance of all types (home, auto, life, etc). You pay hoping to never have to use it. One of the biggest differences is that in all other forms of insurance, there's competition. In phone insurance there isn't that competition (that I know of) so they charge $5 bucks and tell you of the high deductable. We either take it or leave, it's our choice. Although, I'd rather pay the $69, or $75 or whatever it is to get a new phone than pay the $100. It's still less expensive.

Any way, just my thoughts. Like I started out saying, I'm not trying to sound crass, and if I came off that way, I do appologize.

Right, I understand the price of the phone go up and that's to be expected. When it was a $200 phone, the deducible was $69. But now that its a $99 phone having a deductive that is 70% the cost of the phone is a bit ridiculous. Any insurance swaps done after 6 months you'd actually be losing money.

Anyways that's not really my issue... I'm wondering if I can still swap it under warranty. Electrical problems are covers but I was wondering if they'd see the crack on my screen and turn me away. I'm hopjng that's not the case because the crack hasn't done anything to impair the functionality of the phone.

The charging part has nothing to do with your phone. Get a new charger. The cable are probably damaged. Kind of like when your headphones wont play in one ear and you have to wiggle it around so it plays in both ears. Also, check all your settings to make sure the battery hoggers are off such as wifi and location. Also, look into downloading poeer saving apps. Juice Defender is what I use and recommend.

Hope this helps.

We have had similar charging problems on multiple phones over the years and it was always the charger that was the problem.

The charger isn't the problem. My brother has an LG phone and his charger will charge hisphonenjust fine but not mine. I also have 2 spares so that's 4 chargers that wont.charge my phone but they work fine with others

If that isn't it then all you can do is try to get it fixed under warranty. Try to argue that it is not related to the crack. They are likely going to say that it is and the accident that caused it also caused the charging problems, but maybe you will get lucky. Only going in to see will answer your question.

I have an LG phone as well. It has the same exact problem. I'm just curious, do all of the chargers you use happen to be LG chargers? Because I have noticed that when I charge my phone with LG chargers, it does that. So lately I have been using an HTC charger and I have not had the problem since. Maybe you should try a different brand charger if they are LG! And also, I'm pretty sure the phone company would consider your phone void of warranty, since it has physical damage from you dropping it. They will more than likely say it happened when you dropped your phone. I hope this helps! :)

Are you sure the phone is fully charging? Because mine would die really quickly too but it never said 'charge complete' anymore. Are you trying to charge the phone while it's in bed with you? Because that is the reason mine never fully charged. But I just sat my phone up on two books beside me on my bed so the charger wouldn't move and it FINALLY charged completely. I know it won't solve your problem, but it's a temporary fix if you don't want to spend anymore money :)

MetroPCS insurance is a JOKE, don't EVER get that crap. UNLESS you have a $300+ phone, EVEN then you might want to think twice, the deductible is huge, + $5 a month is a lot compared to other services.

Something you might want to keep in mind, a few home insurance companies have insurance for their phones as well, might want to contact your insurance company if you have home insurance.. My friend has a iPhone with a $20 deductible, and $3 a month with the iPhone 4, and they will pay him 600+ if he looses his full (full retail value).

I want to buy the lg esteem with insurance, i read that the deductible if i lose the phone is 99, true? Any hidden fees? I heard a client that paid 200 instead 99 for the esteem. Need help, advice, help!!!

first off, metro PCS LG optimistic m phones just seem to be full of glitches and i don't think a new phone will help. unless you have one that is completely disabled. this is just because they are inferior phones for an inferior provider at ridiculously high phone prices, and criminal insurance policy. this is their business model. the plus side is : wireless for all! lol. metro will eventually rule the world i predict.

as for your battery problem. go to eBay and you can buy 3 batteries and the battery charger for $11.99. carry a couple of extra batteries around and just switch them out. less bulky than the charger and ypi don't have to expose your metro-ness by being the only phone plugged in at every cafe and restaurant you frequent. also, the wall. chargers cost $1.99 on eBay. when mine stopped working i got one of these and it worked fine. however, i hardly use it because the extra battery method is better. btw--this applies to all phones: replacement batteries on eBay for 1/7 or less of the price at a store. power to the wireless.
