How to skip initial screen when waking phone (go straight to lock-screen)

dmtr

Lurker
When I double tap on my Google Pixel 3's screen, I'd like it to go directly to the lock-screen and skip the black screen with the clock. It's a waste of time and annoying to have to double-tap twice just to get to the lock screen. I realize I can also hit the power button or finger scanner, but those can't be done comfortably with 1 hand when the phone is face-up on my desk.

Well on my note 8 on pie and even on oreo you still have to tap the screen to wake and then swipe or whatever security you have set up. There's no easy way around it. It's to prevent things like butt calling people when the phones in your pocket.

What you describe is actually what I'm looking for. When the phone is asleep, I have to tap 4 times just to get to the lock screen. Then I can swipe and sign in.

4 times? Is you're accessibility turned on? Is it only for the lockscreen? If you have to double tap on anything then that's your accessibility turned. It's for people who can't see very well.

If not then that sound really odd. Either you can boot into safe mode and see if that changes things or do a factory reset.

Yea it's twice to wake the phone, then another 2 times to get to the lock screen, then I can sign in. I think it's a Pixel thing, so I may call their support. I didn't see anything related to that in the Accessibility settings.

It's not just Pixel.
My LG...
Knock twice, then swipe, then sign in.

I can turn off the knock twice option, but I'd still need to hit the power button. I'd like to be able to bypass an extra screen also.

Alright just got off the phone with Pixel support, they said there's no way to remove that intermediary screen with the clock. I'll be submitting feedback, though, in hopes they remove it in a future update.

Why not? I routinely do that with my Moto Z² Force. I use my index fingers for fingerprint unlocking; perhaps you're using thumbs, which would indeed be awkward.

Perhaps try adding your index fingers to your fingerprint file and see if that helps. For me, it's one touch and I'm in! :)

Is your fingerprint scanner on the front of your phone? If mine wasn't on the back I wouldn't be complaining about this in the first place. But I see other positives for the scanner to be on the back.

By the way, on the call to their support they said it was indeed "unfixable," as in not customizable. So I submitted a feature request in future iterations of the software.
