HARD RESET

As long as it is running Android, you should have the option in the settings (security or privacy, backup & reset - exactly where depends on what Android version it is running and whether LG have messed with the menu structure. It's actually under "system" in my phone, but that's running Android 9 and isn't where it was in older devices). "Factory reset" is another name for "hard reset".

If you aren't able to get it to boot you can do this from recovery mode (which will involve booting it while pressing some button or combination of buttons, again can vary with device).

If your device was originally released with Android 5 or later make sure you know your Google account password before doing this. If not you will be locked out by the Factory Reset Protection system. If you do not know it you can avoid that by removing the account from the device before resetting, but then you won't be able to reconnect to the account without the password anyway, so better to find out the password first. Another warning though: don't change the password and then reset, since that will look like a stolen device and you'll be locked out for a couple of days anyway (the logic is that people who lose a device will change the account password to be safe, while a thief might reset the device as a way of getting past a screen lock, so the two happening close together is likely to indicate a stolen phone. So if you don't know the password and have to reset it either wait a couple of days before resetting or remove the account first). Devices originally released with Android 4 or earlier won't have any of this anti-theft stuff, but despite it being standard for 4-5 years it's surprising how many people it catches.
