Incoming Call Turns Phone Off!

Over the past few weeks, I've had up to 80% of incoming calls turn my phone completely off before I could answer the call or capture the incoming number. I've done a soft reset which seems to improve things for a short time, but the problem persists. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, how did you deal with it?

Have you had it shut down under any other circumstances? Noticed anything else unusual (e.g. it getting hot)? And is it a controlled shutdown (with shutdown messages/animations), or does it just turn off?

My first instinct is "hardware fault", e.g. something can't handle the increased power drain of setting up the call and it trips off. But that's just a guess, and there may possibly be a less serious cause.

Good questions, but it doesn't shut down unexpectedly in any other situation and doesn't run hot. It generally rings no more than twice and immediately shuts down. There is nothing controlled about the shutdown, it is instantaneous. Occasionally I will get a voicemail on the call and it seems that is what happens to the caller...The call is treated as an unanswered call. Thanks for reaching out, I appreciate your thoughts.

You might have downloaded a bad behaving app previously before all your problems stared..to me it sounds like a bad written app messing your whole system up..
Try to figure which could be the culprit..
I was having the same exact problem in my Note4 for a whole month..two nights ago I finally was able to figure it was TASKER..since I was running a very older version of the app..except that it was turning my phone off at all the times..not just when receiving a phone call..

I know it can be very frustrating..I was about to ask in here..but I like to figure thinks out my way..you know

Ok..here's the thing..one of the itself random reboot episode issues I had with this same Note4..I had that problem fixed by taken it to a guy who worked on it's MicroProcessor..that's the main source of those massive reboots..this issue was well known to affect almost all Note4's around the globe..I'm thinking you might be facing the same situation..

If I were you I would take the phone to some dude in your area..there's people very capasitaded to work on it..I spent $25 to fix it..

to see if it is a 3rd party app or not, i would put the phone in safe mode. if it is still occurring then it is not a 3rd party app, but something wrong with either your system apps or it is a hardware issue.

Great idea and one I hadn't thought of! Thanks.

I did a soft reset and uninstalled the last 5 apps I added. So far everything is working well. I will gradually add an app at a time to try and isolate the culprit!
Had exact problem and took all the steps you did. My dropped calls turned out to be i needed a new SIM card because old one damaged somehow. No dropped calls since the new card.
