Help Mysterious notification on home screen.

Sorry if this is obvious, but I was a long time iPhone user before converting to Android a few weeks ago.

I somehow have managed to mess with the Messages app: suddenly, as I receive an SMS, an iPhone-like notification appears on the home screen. It disappears as I unlock the phone and view the received message. Image attached.

This is not normal? Or am I missing something?

Normal notification on the phone works as expected.

Regards
Juha

Top notification is WhatsApp and the bottom one is the default text messenger app. Which one is the problem?

If you did not setup whatsapp go into your apps draw and open it up to see what's going on. Your default text (messenger) app is what you use for your normal network messages.

Yes, seems like WhatsApp was left as primary.
But the question remains: why does it not use system notifications same as Messenger?

Update: I have (I think) stripped WA all its notification preferences and the primary messaging app is Messenger. Just now received a message from wife (iPhone user), the same notification appears...

Neither of those notifications looks like WhatsApp. The lower one looks like Google's "Messages" app. The top one I don't recognise but it was clearly written by someone who is not a native English speaker (and who couldn't afford to hire one to check their translations), which rules out a bit developer like WhatsApp.
