App to get notification when you have voicemail?

I'm using the app Easy Reminder to get constant notifications when I have a missed call or a text message. But it doesn't work on voicemails. Anyone know of something that will work on all three?

I can't understand why this isn't base functionality in Android. Even my plain old basic cell phone from 10 years ago did this.

I get notifications and the led blinks constantly, I need to figure out how to turn my v-mail notifications off. What kind of notification are you looking for?

I'm looking for an audio notification. The problem is that I may miss the initial audio notification when an new voicemail comes in. And then I won't know if there's voicemail unless I take the phone out of my pocket and check.

My 10-year-old plain-old cell phone used to beep every couple of minutes when I had a text or voice message. I don't know why the Droid doesn't do that.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't really want to set up a new phone number / voicemail system. I just want a beep or something to let me know I have a voicemail waiting.

Easy Reminder will give me beeps every 5 minutes when I have a missed call or text message, but it doesn't work for voicemails. Just need something that will work for all three.

Understandable but don't the missed call and the Voicemail somewhat go hand in hand? Can't have a voicemail without a missed call first, right?

I might also suggest you ask the developer of Easy Reminder to add support for voicemails. Most of these devs are pretty damn cool and fast to respond.

+1, Youmail also has a "Keep Reminding Me" option.

And with youmail you dont set up a new phone number, its a great visual voicemail and I use the free version.

And if you are in an area of no reception or the phone is turned off you can get a voicemail without a missed call, but with youmail you'll get a text still for the missed cal with caller id info and/or for the voicemail as well. Both will trigger your current reminder system.

ericsbcn - who said anything about creating a new number when using YouMail. It has everything you've asking for - and more. And Free!

Actually, you can have a voicemail without a missed call. Happens to me fairly often. What happens is that I don't have good reception in my office. Someone tries to call me but the call doesn't go through -- so no missed call. Then, they leave a message and I get the voicemail notification.

Thanks for the suggestion about contacting the dev of Easy Reminder. I hadn't thought of that.

Sorry, I was referring to both Google Voice and YouMail, which seem to require you to set up a separate account. I didn't download YouMail, but I looked at the description in the Market. It just seemed like way more than I needed.

You have the answer, yet you choose to ignore it... YouMail is not hard to setup and use... it will give you what you want, it will even notify you if the person does NOT leave a message so you aren't wondering if you're missing a message.

The "answer" repeatedly given was obviously not an answer to the problem as stated, which you choose to ignore.

ericsbcn said "I don't really want to set up a new... voicemail system." He just wanted a simple app that will show him when he has messages in his current voicemail system. YouMail apparently requires the user to switch to a new voicemail system. Not only that, but it has received many bad reviews, which specifically state that it's difficult or impossible to return to one's old voicemail system once you've installed YouMail.

I understand what ericsbcn was saying because I have the exact same issue. I want a simple app that will just show me how many unplayed and how many saved voicemails I have, without requiring me to switch to a different voicemail system. Even an app that would show me if I have any voicemails would be a step in the right direction. It's been nearly a decade since ericsbcn asked his question, and -- based on an extensive search -- there still appears to be no app that can competently handle the job that the cheapest answering machines were able to do over 3 decades ago.
