Red block covering app

Hello,
I have been trying to find information on this issue all over the place, but I cannot seem to find anything that fits. This is not the red tint or burn in issue. There is a solid red block covering some portions of some apps. One in particular it will not go away on three screens, 2 others are fine, in the same app. On another app, sometimes it covers the entire screen but will go away if I close and reopen the app.

I'm not sure this is a problem with a specific app or a larger issue. But because I do see it in 2 apps I suspect something else is going on. I have asked one of the app developers to look into it.

Anyone ever see this type of thing before? Any suggestions?

I'm on android 9 with the August security patch installed.

Could these blocks be advert overlays that are not connecting to their resources so are resolving simply blocks of colours? Have you looked within your storage to see if you can find these red images? (Gallery app perhaps) Sometimes a temporary folders will be created to store these adverts which would also include these block images.

You don't state which apps are effected. But have a look in their folders within the Android\Data folder.

I also notice you maybe using a custom launcher on your phone. Have you tried reverting back to the Samsung launcher to see if that resolves the issue?
 
I had a different theme installed I set it back to the default and it was ok the first time I opened the app, but now it has returned.

I'm not sure about a launcher. I have not knowingly changed that. I don't see anything in the data directories that looks like it may be a problem I also do not see anything in the gallery or anywhere else that looks like this block.

One app is thumbtack pro and the other is libby On libby it pops up but goes away if I close and reopen. For thumbtack it is covering several tabs but not all
