Help Charging

When the phone is turned off and charging, I know I can press the power button to see the battery level but is there another way without pressing power button to see the level (or that it's charging/or done)?

my other phone Alcatel 7 had an indicator light and when the phone was turned off and charging, the light would come on and go off when done charging

why do you turn the phone off while charging? i never do that with my phone.

yeah but booting the phone on and off wheres out the chip......i'll pass. i just put my phone on its wireless charging cradle at night and go to sleep. i just wake up in the morning and the phone is fully charged.....never had any issues with battery on any of my phones doing it this way.
