Intermittent connection to router but works on hotspot

Hi,

I have an unusual problem with my device. Whenever I try to connect my phone to the router, it always says connected, no internet access. I've tried everything from restarting my phone, putting it on static, turning airplane mode on and off but nothing seems to work. Here's the weird thing, my laptop can connect to my router without any issues then I put it on hotspot and my phone connects fine to the internet on the computer. Any help would would be appreciated for me to be able to use the internet directly to my router. Same issue with my huawei tablet.

Is it possible that a security setting in your router is causing a conflict or incompatibility with your phone? For example, I have wifi in my router set to WPA2-PSK. Maybe you can try a different security protocol?

Don't know, just throwing ideas out there.

The computer and router have the same encryption. WPA/WPA2 PSK but sometimes I see the router has an encryption of WPS which is also weird. I'm really bummed out.

I'll bet there's a simple answer here. Hang in there while folks take their shots at this! and WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS! :)

Have you tried just restarting your router? Maybe there's a problem with its DHCP, and it needs clearing. Check the phone and tablet IP addresses in their settings, should be either 192.168.*.* or 10.*.*.*. They might be connected to the router but haven't been allocated an IP address by it, like it might be 0.0.0.0.
