Root Root for my moto

Was wondering if anybody has found a way to root the moto E5 play xt1921-6 variant

always look to xda for anything root related. it is a developers forum where they post their guides, roms, kernels and recoveries. always do your research there first. please before you do anything to your phone, read, read, and then read some more. the link @Dannydet provided should get you going. if you have the time i would read all of the pages in the thread. sometimes there will be troubleshooting or very good questions that will get answered within those pages.

Also i’ve read on some websites that the bootloader does not need to be unlocked can anybody confirm this

The Moto E5 Play (and my sister device E5 Plus) needs bootloader unlock before you can fastboot flash TWRP.img to ur device, in order to use TWRP itself to flash the magisk.zip for Root access.
