I use Zoom several times a week, mostly from my laptop but occasionally from my phone. You shouldn't worry about that one.
As for malware, remember that even if a scammer has slipped 100 infected apps past the checks that's a miniscule fraction of the almost 3 million apps in the Play Store. And it's not that legitimate apps are being infected, it's trojans (mostly adware) being hidden in apps that have been written for the sole purpose of carrying the malware (usually things that I'd personally have regarded as "junk" anyway). So you don't have to worry that an app from a legit company such as Zoom will turn out to be infected.
(For the record it seems in the last couple of days they've been finding malware in the iOS App Store too. So no matter what platform you are on it's sensible to think about the legitimacy of an app before installing it).
