HOW TO INSTALL


READ READ READ




1) download and install the latest recovery for the device:

2) backup your current rom

3) COPY YOUR APN SETTINGS EXACTLY WITH PEN AND PAPER--YOU WILL NEED TO MANUALLY ENTER THEM FOR MOBILE DATA--THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY NOT MINE

4) to install, i suggest not only doing factory reset in recovery, but also formatting system, cache, and data using the new format menu in my latest recovery release; then with the package on your sdcard, install it from the zip installation menu

5) install will be fairly fast because the new recovery is lightning fast, reboot

6) if after several the minutes the phone has not booted, reboot it by holding power + volume up

7) if touchscreen does not respond, reboot the phone, once rebooted lower the max cpu frequency in settings--above 800 causes touchscreen / gpu interference (just a warning, mostly works fine but occasionally a problem may arise; mileage will vary)

8) WIFI WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL THE SECOND BOOT--DON'T ASK WHY

9) IF FOR SOME REASON YOU DON'T HAVE ANY RINGTONES LISTED JUST REBOOT AND THEY'LL APPEAR

10) INSTALL GAPPS DIRECTLY FROM THE STORE--DO NOT INSTALL THE ICS GAPPS PACKAGE FROM RECOVERY--JUST LISTEN IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW DIRECTIONS I WON'T HELP YOU

I'm having problems installing any apps, doesn't matter if its from the store or apk, nothing will install

everything has always worked for me...

as with everything, maybe you need to run through the usual steps--wipe dalvik retry, wipe data retry, wipe and reinstall and retry
 
I am also having an extremely hard time getting this ROM to be functional. I've had several issues with Accounts and Sync, Google Play Store, and several other programs just F/C constantly. All issues start immediately. They begin with the Market getting updated and having to install as many apps as you can before it updates. Then, sometimes I am able to install apps from the Store but most of the times I have errors within the app. What did help me get the furthest to a stable install was lowering the CPU to 600 max 120 something minimum. This only helped for a short while before I came across the keyboard F/C'ing constantly. I have used your other ROMS for this device and they have all been great. I am really looking forward to getting this to work! I really am at wits end as I am surprised to be having so many issues. Any thoughts?? Is there maybe a way you can upload a backup of one of your stable installs??
 
hmm...

idk. just delete the three gapps from within the install zip. if using my recovery it will still install after you delete the apks. then just install the official gapps from recovery and try again.

other than that there's nothing more i have time for right now with this device.
 
This phone is driving me insane!!!!

I can't get the sd-ext to work, tried everything. Since the touchnav doesn't ave the partition option, using gparted, but it still doesn't work, ex3 partition...yes...working...no!

Gapps made it crash, you said do not install ICS, so I installed gingerbread 2.3-7 and it crashed. Stayboogy, you said do not install ICS, this is really unclear, so which should I install for Gapps? Why do I need gapps? The phone, otherwise then not being able to get the sd-ext to work, works without the gapps, playstore anyways.

Also, has anybody used my unlock method and had issues staying on a network? Thinking it's an IMEI# issue, merit IMEI running on an Avail possibloy. Shitty straight talk customer service keeps saying it's not, I asked them to remove the phone to see if that helped. After 30min the guy transfered me to net10 tech support. So I called back, said just remove the phone from my account, after 1 1/2 hours listening to some Asian woman telling me to hold for three more minutes, they transferred me to safelink. Is it that hard to remove a phone?

what you're saying is unclear...

reread the first post cause obviously didn't understand it.

i never said anything about sd-ext. if it doesn't work i don't care cause it's not a native android function. this is plain ole ics, nothing more than me making it work for this phone. if an sd-ext partition exists touchnav will back it up. recovery and system are two different things. and partitioning is removed because it can break stuff.

i never said don't install ics gapps--where you got this i have no clue, read, read, read... i said don't install from recovery. install gapps from the store which is included in the rom. if you have issues read, read, read my last post before this one.

data works fine as well--you need to manually enter your apn settings WHICH IS PLAINLY STATED IN THE FIRST POST.

i can put my st sim in the merit and it will work perfectly in every way...

if you don't have the understanding to read the first post and follow directions then you should stay away from this rom.
 
The APN is setup manually. This has been an issue from the beginning. Nothing to do with rooted or unrooted ROMs. I know it has nothing to do with coverage either, using both sims in AT&T phones, they work. Its just this phone for some reason. One minute I can make phone calls, the next I can't. When I first switched back to ST they asked me for the IMEI number. Insisted that I had to use a st sim and sent me one. Now I can't uses data/ mobile 85% of the time. I installed xposed for GB spoofed the IMEI that made it worse.

I see about the ICS now my bad just frustrated. BTW how do you have enough app storage for extras?

Possibly figured out the problem with partitioning the sdcard. Ordered a really cheap one on eBay, cheap as in, the price was so good ordered two 32gb class 10 for $15 and some change, with a reader for each .

Knew some time back when I installed this rom there were no issues, but that was using a 8gb sansdisk.

When I partition using gparted/cwm/twrp/partition magic put in phone, reboot the ext3/ext4 becomes unreadable. Even tried mkfs in Linux. Unless somebody knows a way of tricking android, need to buy a non generic card.
 
Excellent work, my friend! I literally joined this forum to tell you thanks. You just sorta brought an old toy back to life for me again... I would like to try to port this over to an Lg Optimus Net that I have at my disposal, if you have any thoughts on that I would love to hear them. Once again, great work.
 
Not sure if anyone is interested but since ADB wasn't working for me making it hard to install a custom recovery I finally found a method that worked using just the stock recovery, I just downloaded the Phydeux-2.0-CWM5-update.zip from Android Area 51 & when CWM came up I flashed the rom.
 
Did usual wipes and such, runs like a dream @ 1000mhz clock speed and everything works initially.
But the ROM becomes quite buggy, acting like it has run out of system partition space after some use. First loses boot animation and super user always asks for permission to open file manager even though it's in the allowed list. Something isn't right with this ROM.
