Make old phone a bluetooth dialler for new Phone?

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn my old Android phone into a bluetooth dialler companion phone for my new Android handset (Huawei Mate 20 X)?

Perhaps using an app or something?

Any help gratefully appreciated.
 
so just to be clear you want to use the old phone as a dialer and then use the newer phone to be used to talk to whoever you are calling?
 
Well, The idea is that you can keep your large Phablet phone in your backpack say, whilst using a smaller device to make and receive calls. The smaller device is connected by bluetooth to the larger device (in my case the Mate 20X).The larger device actually makes or receives the calls which are transmitted over bluetooth to the smaller device.

just get a smart watch. i use my gear s3 all the time like you suggested. i never have to take my phone out. i can make and receive calls as well as texts messages.
 
Yeah, Had 3 smartwatches (Sony, Pebble and Samsung). Unfortunately, I much prefer traditional watches (I have 50+ of them).

Hence my interest in setting up a BT dialler companion handset.
 
yeah i do not think that there is anything out there like that. you would need an app that can pair the two phones together and then have one make the call and then transfer the conversation via bluetooth.

Bearing in mind that I disable Google Assistant immediately upon buying a new phone, and have never touched a bluetooth headset: why can't this be done with 'okay, Google, call Joe Blow [or 123-4567]'?
