Help Android 6 update?

I have a HTC Desire 626 with 8GB memory running Android 5.1 from many years ago. I am trying to update to Android 6. Has anyone been able to update this phone to Android 6? I can't seem to make enough space! I tried everything, moving everything to external SD card, deleting data, deleting updates, deleting all my apps... It says I've got 7.5 / 8 GB used up, but I can't free up space. Does anyone know how much space it SHOULD have?

You could use a device specific RUU to update if it's available.

so i searched and the links from the htc website do not work. and same with xda. i see ruu's for the 626s that are for marshmallow but not for the droid 626....you might be sol on using ruu's to update the phone.

have you tried a factory reset and then update?
