Changing Android Voice (NOT ASSISTANT VOICE)

It seems that changing speech in the Text to Speech settings DOESN'T change the speech throughout the device. It DOES NOT change the Assistant voice.

I notice that the Google Go App reverts to the boring female stock voice. Why doesn't that voice change with the Text to Speech settings I changed? Very frustrating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, touch and hold the Home button or say "OK Google."
2. In the bottom right, tap

4. Tap Assistant

5. Choose a voice.

Thank you, ocnbrze, but I specifically said in the title of the post, Changing Android Voice (NOT ASSISTANT VOICE).
Changing the Assistant voice doesn't change the Text to Speech in all applications.

Some apps do not use the Assistant voice but the text to speech voice (yes, they are different).

Even though I change the text to speech voice the app Google Go still reverts to the boring stock voice.

Is there a solution?

In mid October I posted my own post about Google Text-to-Speech settings having gone sideways around that time and they have stayed broken. I'm on Android 8 on an Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom and use T-T-S heavily to listen to documents on my phone. Now, I have to forcefully choose my pwn voice of choice (and its speed of delivery) buried deep down under "install voice data" for every single use of the function and sometimes even have to re-choose partway through playing if I have paused my playing for too long. They have really messed up this customization function, somehow, so what used to work beautifully no longer does. There are never any replies to in-app feedback back to Google.
(PS they've also done some other weird little things recently, such as T-T-S reading every occurence of "sat" (no period) as the word Saturday, rather than the word sat, but I guess some apparatchik decided for their calendar app they just wanted it that way. The choice had also existed for a long time to read the word "Dr." always as "Drive" and never as "Doctor" and I've adjusted to that. I haven't adjusted to hearing my DRM free books, which seem to be full of people sitting, with sentences like. "The children Saturday glum and silent throughout this speech."
