How turn off S10+ screen without locking it?

Is there a way to change the settings on an S10+ so that I can turn the screen off WITHOUT locking the phone? There are times when I want to turn the screen off to save some battery or because I'm holding the phone and don't want to accidentally press anything. If I use the power button it locks the phone and I have to unlock it with my pin or thumb. I had an LG G5 before this and I could double tap the screen to turn it off and double tap again to turn it back on without having to unlock it. I've been playing around with the settings but haven't found the right combination.

Go to Settings > Lock Screen > Secure Lock Settings.
Turn off "Lock instantly with power key."
Set "Lock automatically" to the time you want.

I don't have the S10, but that lets me turn the screen off with the power key and a minute later it's not locked when turning the screen back on.

Yeah I tried that but the only option I have under Lock automatically is "immediate". It's possible my company has an agent on there that limits the choices. I didn't have that problem with my previous phone (LG). I think I may be out of luck on this one. Not the end of the world, but I'll just have to be careful when I'm holding it.

I found this in the Verizon S10 help pages, it seems to imply the options will depend on what type of screen lock you're using:

Configure any of the following:
-Depending upon the screen lock type, the options presented may vary.
  • Make pattern visible
Tap to to turn on or off.
  • Lock automatically
    • Immediately
    • 5 seconds
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • 30 minutes
  • Lock instantly with power key
Tap to turn on or off.
You could try switching to a password or pattern. Or maybe using the fingerprint option removed the timeout lengths? Not sure, but it appears what you want is possible depending on the setup.

Thanks Kate. I think the "Lock automatically" setting is my problem. The only choice is "immediately" and I have a feeling that's part of the agent my company installs on all phones. Ideally I'd just need to increase that lock time right there but it's not available. I've tried all the other settings. Thanks for the help.
