What's up with weak charging?

Lately that's just the problem I've been having. The phone mentions it, too, but apparently can do nothing about it. I am using as far as I know the original charger that came with it (a used Samsung Galaxy S5). Even plugged in it can drop to maybe 90%. Last night I shut it off and just let it charge, which worked (100%) but this morning it's up to its old tricks.

The charger is either going bad or the cable is. Samsung phones are a little fussy about charging and cables so you have to have a quality cable and I'd recommend a charger that puts out at least 2A.

It's most likely your cord, if it was the power supply it wouldn't even charge usually. If the cord is to long or cheap or even to thin it will stop the right amount of voltage. I went to college and got my low voltage electrical certification and learned all about electricity. One wouldn't think you would have any substantial amount of voltage drop with such a short cord but even pushing more than six feet will have a substantial impact on the amount of voltage the phone recieves. Six feet or less for the cord size and any power supply will work as long as it has Qualcomm built in. Due to Qualcomm being Samsung's smart charging system all Samsung's will charge faster and better with it. I have used two fast chargers side by side and one with Qualcomm but both with the same output and input voltage and the power supply with Qualcomm charged at a surprisingly faster rate.

it could also be the battery. as batteries get older they lose the ability to hold a charge. it can also lose the capability to communicate with the phone so that your phone is misreading the actual charge.

not only would i look to getting a new charger and cable, but i would look into getting the battery replaced as well.
