Google Pay not working

Hello,

I have a new Alcatel 3 2019. I have moved for an iPhone that I used for many years. Sadly upon setting up Google Pay with the directions, it does not seem to work when placed on a payment terminal. I wanted to know if I am missing something. NFC is turned on and I was in the Google Pay app.

not all card terminals support google pay. it has to have the same contacless payment support that apple uses. samsung is the only carrier where samsung pay will work with any terminal. if it has a place to slide the card samsung pay will work.

Does it do anything at all? Vibrate, give a message?
Go into the app and click your card, be sure it's set as 'default for in store payments',
The phone only has to be unlocked, you don't need to be in the app at all if it's working right.
