Help Can I default to recents when I open phone app

What the title says. Is it possible to change it? Its annoying to me that it goes to the keypad instead of regents since I rarely ever dial numbers and usually just call the same couple people.

I'm not sure I understand you correctly, because that's the default behavior on my device (LTE32 International Unlocked).

I open the dialer app, go LOGS tab, to show my most recent calls. When I select the contact, make the close, close the app, it will reopen in LOGS for as long as I don't change it to something else.

Are you on some kind of telco branded S4 with their own dialer app ?

I am on Verizon. Every time I open the phone app it defaults to the keypad and I have to touch recents every time which is a little annoying. Is there a way to adjust this? Maybe I saved it like that on accident when I first got the phone?

Are you talking about the Call Log? I don't see anything called Recents.

Yes, they're talking about the call log... On our Verizpn version of the GS4, the dialer opens up to the keypad. Then there are 4 tabs at the top. From left to right they are "Keypad" "Recent" "Favorites" and "Contacts". I agree that it would be nice to change it to open to "Recent" instead of the "Keypad".

Mine doesn't do that. Someone else had this problem because I remember replying to their thread saying exactly the same thing last time.

If you do a search you should be able to track it down.

My Verizon s4 does it too. Doesn't matter if I leave it on recent when I exit it. It still defaults back to the dialer when I reopen it.

You could use a custom Launcher like Apex. You'd longpress on the homescreen and choose Shortcut and then Activities. Should be somewhere in there (I cannot tell you where exactly since I don't have Recents. I believe in the Android update that I have they removed it since the call log and/or favorites serves the same purpose).

Here's something to try. On some docks, the icons are pre-programmed (like arguments on windows' run commands) and default to certain areas. Try launching using the Apps Menu -> Phone icon, changing it's tab, then exiting and re-entering using the same menu icon. If you get the tab you exited on, the dock icon is preset to open the Dialer. Swap it out and you should be good to go.

One of the launchers I installed had the Phone icon preset to the Dialer tab and the Contacts icon preset to the "All Contacts" view. Made a mess until I figured this out. It's a long shot, but VZW may have done something similar to TouchWiz's dock.

Nope that did not work for me still goes to dialer.

Open app and go to recent tab tap the 3 spots near the search magnifier open the more options and select last viewed close app and it should now open to tge recents tab
