Google one backup - override idle time?

Sunny Rio

I just got offered Google One backup, but it waits until my phone is idle for 2 hours, and there seems to be no way to change this. But my phone is never idle, it runs science apps from Boinc 24/7. How do I make the backups run automatically?

Think that's a paid premium service from Google? Never tried it myself, so don't know how to make it run faster.

As of half an hour ago, I was given the first 15GB free. I would never pay. Certainly not if the stupid thing waits until idle! Idle hands make no er.... whatever that cliche is.

Apparently I've now got the same thing as well. But how to make the free option faster, no idea. It's not something I'd use anyway.

Your attachment doesn't work.

I'll try to find a Google feedback or something to let them know.

Yeah I deleted it. But it only shows the same thing you've already described, 15GB free. I think all Google users got it in their current plan, i.e. 15GB for free. If you want more you have to pay. But again, no ideas about making it faster.

One wonders how long before this ends up in the Google Graveyard.

I clicked the question mark and there was a feedback link, so I told them to add an option for backing up even when not idle. My whole phone is only 30GB, so the free one would suit me fine! I don't really need the photos backed up anyway, since I take photos on a day out, then come home and put them on the computer for sorting and editing.
