Christmas 2024

It's almost torture having to wait until Saturday for gifts! Former tax deduction son will have a 3-day weekend, so we'll take care of everything then. I won't tell you what he's getting (he might be lurking here)... but the Darling Bride has always been a little embarrassed by her military service because she didn't get all the medals and awards I did. Her service is JUST as important as mine ever was, just in a different way: so I had a military shadowbox assembled for her. The only thing wrong is that I had to use a folded flag donated by our state representative, instead of the one that hasn't arrived yet... a flag, via our U.S. Senator, that was flown over the United States Capitol. Heck, my shadowbox doesn't even have that! It will be the last gift of the day and I'm sure she'll be floored by it.
Merry Christmas, my AF family. I've only read the excellent OP in this thread, from @The_Chief but will read them all eventually. I hope you're all having a wonderful whatever-you-celebrate this season, and here's a little something for @nickdalzell :
Waiting till Saturday?
Don't be a big baby, Chief. My girls won't be here till Sunday. All 3 of our granddaughters have been sick and they can't be around each other until then. Won't gripe about that because we've already gotten our gifts from 2 of them...2 boxes of chocolate covered cherries.
The Boss Lady and I gave each other very little for Christmas (we just order what we want all year). We're saving our Christmas for March. We haven't had a vacation in a couple years so we're going to the mountains around the time of our anniversary.
I'm quite certain that the shadow box will be something that she'll treasure.

Got two nice journals my brother in law gave me.
A little over the top for him, the pages are like an extra pond per square inch.
I got message therapeutic puddy Different colors per the four I wanted,
I am going to give my sister two of them for her hands.
Got a bunch of candy and an Elf on the shelf from my sister's mother-in-law.
Some slipper socks too.
I feel pretty great right now, I did went to church for Christmas last night too.
It was odd stepping out of my element.

We had been planning our family Christmas gettogather for Sunday evening but all three of our granddaughters have been I'll and now I've got the crud, too. So, my wife let both daughters know that we are going to postpone it until next Sunday. I haven't felt this bad doing the Christmas season since I had my first hip replacement in 1994.
On the bright side, we'll have the tree lit until then, which just happens to be the 12th day of Christmas.

What I am surprise the most of you Pit,
you seem always remember everything.
Our Christmas celebration was yesterday, with former tax deduction son here for the weekend. He received a Prank-O Bathe & Brew fake box (they have some hilarious gag gift boxes), with a 4K dashcam and microSD card inside. I received some very nice necessities for my new vinyl turntable setup; and Isabella the deaf adorable money pit was sure to remind us that we missed one.
The big gift was the Darling Bride's shadowbox, which had her in tears. I hope she's never embarrassed of her military career again... maybe she didn't earn all the medals and decorations the ol' Chief did, but she didn't deploy to combat areas or do the things I was tasked to do. She did her stuff, though, and I'm so proud she did.
