One of the many community service programs our VFW Post has is a monthly USO-style music and comedy program for residents of area assisted living centers. The theme changes each month, but we manage to sing great songs and tell bad jokes. Never would the Darling Bride and I have imagined that, one day, we'd be singing and telling jokes to old folks in nursing homes... but here we are, killin' it every month! It's a fun, healthy addiction knowing that residents look forward to our visit.

This month, for no apparent reason, was a PIRATE theme. so she and I went all out. We got some hearty pirate costumes and came up with a repertoire of jokes to tell. Some of the jokes and stories I found were fantastic... but either (a) too long for the program; or (b) not appropriate for an assisted living facility. THIS is one such story that is neither. It is, however, a pretty fun one. I hope you enjoy.

More truth to that than I want to know. :) Many years ago we stopped at a Hardee's and grabbed dinner and I drove on a few more miles and jumped on the turnpike. We were headed to KC to see some ball games. I waited until I was on the pike to get into my two cheeseburgers only to find that both were two buns with mustard and ketchup. That's all there was. 😢 🤣

I taught myself to juggle when my son and his buddies were the age that they were trying to juggle. I went so far as to buy a set of juggling clubs. I wasn't half bad. Fast forward 40 years to my youngest great grandchild's first birthday. We were all out in the his back yard were there were multiple tennis balls. I picked up three and immediately proved I could no longer juggle.

Not worry about that, I never could get it started without dropping them.
