August 27th 2026 Lunar Eclipse

A near total lunar eclipse will be visible across the entirety of the continental USA tonight. A google search will give you and idea when max viewing will be in your location.

You’ll want to look up Thursday night to catch a glimpse of the blood moon lunar eclipse, which will be visible (at least in part) across all of North America.

At maximum, the full moon will be 96% covered by Earth’s shadow, turning it a spooky shade of red. While it’s just a few percentage points behind a total lunar eclipse, the view will still be pretty impressive. The best time to see it depends on where you live.

How do people, well professionals shoot mooons, sure I have came almost close with the face but this is really insane... One of the hardest things to photograph for me.
 
It's a matter of zooming in and capturing the light with an elongated exposure. A tripod would be a useful tool to steady the camera. I took my pictures with my S21, using the zoom feature, and resting my hands holding the phone on the hood of my car. I tossed at least ten pics that were blurry and the ones I kept are far from quality.
Having a clear sky and less to no ambient light pollution is a must for taking pictures of space.
Photography would be a fun and expensive hobby.

It has been a hobby of mine for years, I used to have a few decent cameras but.....I think I still have a few of mine though, I have a shoe box with almost never been photographed again, of two of them underneath this comp, on a shelf below that, before digital cloud and back up, I kept what the well lit memories where.
Then moto camed and knocked on my mental doorway.
 
I bought a nice DSLR that sits in my safe. I purchased it to take digital pics of images viewed with my telescope. I sold the scope when the last two kids left the nest and I last used the camera to take wedding pics when my son wed back in 2010. The best part about having a good camera on your phone is to catch opportunity pictures. I always have my phone with me. I don't walk around with a camera hanging from my neck.

Yeah you might look like you spend all that money on a lense though, over all I think, well I have a friend who is taking some photographic classes and some of his work is impressive, on his fb page, over all, I do not see him walking around with a giant camera around his neck... he always carry his cellphone around him..
