To sd or not

Recently I saw a 128 gb sd card at Walgreens for about $55. I hadn't heard of rhe brand, Infinitive. It is somewhat tempting because it's same day and cash rather than online with card and waiting. Who knows about this brand?

I dunno, @Rgarner , that just smacks of "cheap Chinese garbage" to me. It depends on how much you value the data going onto it. If I woke up in your shoes, I'd look for a PNY, Samsung, or Sandisk card during Amazon Prime Deals Tuesday, or wait a few weeks for Black Friday and pick up a legitimate brand on sale.

Just spend the $5.00 difference and get the PNY.

Infinitive is a private label house brand owned exclusively by Walgreens.

Because it is a store brand, Walgreens contracts out the actual production to third-party electronic manufacturers. The individual memory cards are usually mass-produced by generic tech suppliers based in countries like Malaysia or China, and then packaged under the Walgreens "Infinitive" name to provide a lower-cost alternative to major electronics brands.

Just set your cell up for usb file transfer, saves you a lot of money and time :)

To what would I transfer? This assumes something to receive the material. If can save directly to sd it would probably be the least cumbersome.

Plug in your charging cable to your p.c., be sure it has a wide bottom to connect with that, a pop up menu will appear, and it will say "Web Camera", "File Transfer", or "Charging" you tap on "File transfer" and your cell will be up on the windows, and it will have all your doucments and photos appear in your windows for transfering photos and music too. :)

If any of you would like to get me a computer, please feel free. In the meantime, the best I could probably do would be to obtain an additional phone and copy data to that. Keep me posted.

I actually have a Windows 10 convertible touchscreen laptop, with fingerprint scanner, that I'll get rid of since I refuse to use Windows 11. Instead, I'm looking for a used Macbook for screenwriting purposes. I'm open to a trade :)

Maybe I could trade you a bowling bag. It holds 2 as well as shoes etc. with 4 zippered pockets. It also has wheels and a telescoping handle.

Install Linux on it. BTW I still have my old 2015 Macbook Air I bought from new, which is now running MX Linux, and is fully supported.

I finally took rhe plunge and bought a 256 gb card from Best Buy for $87.30. Yeah, I totally saved a penny by paying cash. What I want to know is whether ir's safe to take out the old, supposedly nonfunctional sd card without shutting off the phone, harming it, or harming the card. Also, would it hurt the new card to leave it on and would I have to format it? I don't want to shut off the phone because it's crammed full. It's a Moto G Stylus.

Guess what?! I just took the old sd out after quite a struggle and popped it in the Moto G 2026. It showed sd just fine and now I have all my files from it, or at least those I've checked. Apparently it was that Stylus that lied. Why would it do that? Should I go ahead and put the new sd in the 2026?

Now it seems to be messing with phone operation. I was copying some files from the 2026 to the 1 tb sd and the phone shut off entirely. I finally got it back on but it keeps hanging up.on the copying.

FORMAT FIRST BEFORE USING!

Because of the problems the old (1 tb) sd card was apparently causing, I removed it and inserted the new (256 gb). No, Milo, I didn't have to format it. It showed up automatically and began saving DCIM, just as with the old. The new card seems to be troublefree, at least for now. I still have to figure out a way to get the data from the old card. I have no idea why it was misbehaving. They're both Sandisk. The old card claims to have been manufactured in China, v. Malaysia for the new.

Scan disk you mean, I am familiar with that brand, it is an easy plug and play though, but most of them, I remember just formating them before any useage, it could be whatever you yanks over seas are doing wrong though, but hey I am not British, just a random guy over seas. Data moving from one card the to the other, simple, why not copy that data to your cell and cable hook up to your p.c. and then download everything there or move every file there, I do not know what you are doing so far, you seem very confusing to me. Rgarner.. I thought your name was Rgamer.
