Root Issue with Exhibit2 recovery

Root Pardon my noobishness but...
I'm currently on Apex 1.0 (lol old), kernel version 2.6.32.9 blah blah, system version 2.3.15. I'd like to get Fab's latest Apex ROM but I'm totally confused...from what I can tell "SBF" whatever that is, is something I need to do first (OTA didn't work.)
