I keep getting notified whenever someone replies to a YouTube comment, +1s something, anything to do with Google Plus and it's really irritating. I can't find a way to turn off anything but gmail notifications. Anyone help?

So i just got my new Xperia X10 on 3-mobile. And whenever i try to download an app, it will say under the title of the app "Starting download..." and it doesn't change. Why? Any help is appreciated.
