just rooted using the unrevoked turtorial in the sticky however i do not completely understand section 6 as far as updates. do i need to update if i just rooted (today...) how do i go about doing so as well. also the wireless hotspot how can i do it now?

lost my phone in the gym obviously did not get it back. my question is if its locked can they still retrieve any info off of it? or does it wipe the phone clean if they cannot figure out the password?
