1 answer to question about which phone

I think this is awful, but the fact is that some women will buy them. My mother was talking about getting a smart phone the other day, and I suggested the Htc ryme, because she would be just the type of girl that they are marketing to. She routinely overpays for stuff that is out dated because she thinks technology is just too hard for her girl brain to understand. She is paying more for her old dumphone plan with no data than I am paying for my phone with 5gigs of highspeed data, which is an extra $25 dollars on top of my plan, for me. My mother would just love the purple color too. I also suggested the Iphone, as I thought it might be easier for her. Yes I do find it patronizing that companies are marketing these sub par phones to women, but there is a market for them. I just take comfort in the fact that I am too smart to be duped into buying a "girlphone"

Just a tangential point because I think we all hate sexist products and exploitation -

The article points out that the charm is a free knick-knack. In fact, those are quite popular in Asia, and in many Taiwan pubs the sales squads visit and hand them out as promotional items. They're free, they're fun and they light up to let you know that your phone is ringing, ideal for a noisy environment.

Our smartphones tend to not even feature a lanyard post to use such goodies any more.

I just realized how odd that is, given that I am using a Taiwanese smartphone, and that my old flip and feature phones had such a post.

If your phone had a lanyard post, would you use it? If so, would you use a free lighting charm?

I don't really see the point of having a feminized phone. If I want my phone more girlie, I just put on a pink case (done) and put glittery sequence stickers all over it (done). No one can mistaken my phone for a boy's pone!!!! My phone got the looks and performance. A phone is just a shell if it can't perform ;)

Oh definitely :) I have ruined a few cases by putting some holes in them for the lanyard accessories.
