Well... a week ago, I received the Love Mei Powerful case for my S4. Now, bear in mind, I have always sworn by Otterbox, but the 'boxes for my last couple phones seemed to lack some quality (the one on Spoon's Note 3 seems to be back to the quality I remember). So when somebody on here mentioned the Love Mei, I was interested.
MSRP via their website for this case is $58 + shipping. I, being the cheap person I am, went searching Evilbay: final price was $23 shipped. But MSRP is on par with (if not cheaper than) other cases.
When it arrived, my first thought was "Gawds, it's heavy!". Unfortunately, my reloading scale (rated at 50 gram) doesn't actually go high enough to measure the weight (or that of the phone). At a rough guess, the phone itself weighs about the same as the case. If you're looking for featherweight, this ain't it.
Putting the phone in the case is easy: remove 6 screws with the provided tool, pull the bezel off, place phone in the rubber shock absorber, replace the bezel and tighten the screws. Not as convenient as the Otterbox or Lifeproof, but also no plastic tabs to break off
Right out of the box, I noticed that sound quality wasn't all that good (might also be my declining hearing). I ended up frustratedly removing the membranes from the speakers and microphone. Yes, this will let in more water, but I never planned on swimming with my phone anyway. It's still plenty weatherproof
Size has been raised by some folks, so I did what any good reviewer would: went to a local store that carries the popular selections, and took a couple pics. As you can see, the Love Mei is only slightly larger then the Otterbox (close enough it will almost fit in the Otterbox holster), and just possibly a bit thinner.
Overall, I'm incredibly happy with the Love Mei. Will certainly be looking to get one for my next phone (whatever finally replaces my S4)
