1 Week Review: Love Mei Powerful case

Well... a week ago, I received the Love Mei Powerful case for my S4. Now, bear in mind, I have always sworn by Otterbox, but the 'boxes for my last couple phones seemed to lack some quality (the one on Spoon's Note 3 seems to be back to the quality I remember). So when somebody on here mentioned the Love Mei, I was interested.

MSRP via their website for this case is $58 + shipping. I, being the cheap person I am, went searching Evilbay: final price was $23 shipped. But MSRP is on par with (if not cheaper than) other cases.

When it arrived, my first thought was "Gawds, it's heavy!". Unfortunately, my reloading scale (rated at 50 gram) doesn't actually go high enough to measure the weight (or that of the phone). At a rough guess, the phone itself weighs about the same as the case. If you're looking for featherweight, this ain't it.

Putting the phone in the case is easy: remove 6 screws with the provided tool, pull the bezel off, place phone in the rubber shock absorber, replace the bezel and tighten the screws. Not as convenient as the Otterbox or Lifeproof, but also no plastic tabs to break off

Right out of the box, I noticed that sound quality wasn't all that good (might also be my declining hearing). I ended up frustratedly removing the membranes from the speakers and microphone. Yes, this will let in more water, but I never planned on swimming with my phone anyway. It's still plenty weatherproof

Size has been raised by some folks, so I did what any good reviewer would: went to a local store that carries the popular selections, and took a couple pics. As you can see, the Love Mei is only slightly larger then the Otterbox (close enough it will almost fit in the Otterbox holster), and just possibly a bit thinner.

Overall, I'm incredibly happy with the Love Mei. Will certainly be looking to get one for my next phone (whatever finally replaces my S4)

They are a knock of of the Lunatik cases. I love the look, I am skeptical of the quality. I just got the Sony Z3 the phone is already waterproof so I don't need that part but the drop protection could be good.

I've gone through otter boxes life proof urban armor, almost all the mainstream cases. They are all a lower quality than the love me powerful edition. I ran over my HTC One M9 with a Ford explorer and my phone not only works to the max, there is absolutely no damage to the phone. Makes it heavy, but the metal part makes putting it in your pocket much easier than rubberized cases. Hope this helps

can i swim with it ??
i have a note3 and i resived the case but im not sure if it is water resistant or not ??

Hi I love Mei this case but it cuts the signal with my phone my buddy bought one too and it cut his signal also he put it on and took to camp and he didn't get a signal so he took it off and got his signal back I guess it because of the aluminum case I notice it was hard for the other people to here me when I had the case on I took it of and using a different case now but I wish I could use the Love Mei case !!

Ive no signal either. How do i rectify it. Xperia z3 also

I wld not recommend the Love Me case. I used it with Sony Z5 Premium phone. nothing but problems. it is very very heavy and the sensor located at the top of the phone will not work, the phone thinks it is still against your face when held away from your face the screen stays black and inactive, so you cannot use the phone until the other person hangs up. for me very disappointing!

I have never broken a phone's screen before because I always use glass screen protectors and a robust case. I bought a brand new Xperia Z3 and Love Mei case (with integrated glass screen protector) to go with it. The next day I had a cracked phone screen (not the Love Mei) and impaired touch responses (I can't text or dial). I couldn't believe it. I looked carefully at where the crack started. It turns out the Love Mei case broke my phone. In the front of the case, the glass screen protector stops 10mm short of covering the whole front of the phone. The back of the case has a large cut out in the metal and a rubber in-fill. In my pocket the pressure through the rubber in-fill was transferred to the phone and pressed it against the sharp corner of the glass screen protector. This started a crack in the phone screen 10mm from the bottom, which worked its way across the screen. After investigating screen repairs, which start at $150 for generic parts, $240 for Sony parts, and leave my waterproof phone no longer waterproof, it turns out not worth repairing my $300 phone. So the Love Mei case cost me $340. My friends think that it is hilarious that my huge new expensive "bullet proof" case quietly sabotaged and killed my phone. I can see that, but can't laugh yet, because I had to shell out another $300 to get a "waterproof" phone.
Hopefully I can warn others not to use Love Mei cases and some good can come from my misfortune.
BTW I also noticed weaker signal and speaker sound while the phone was in the Love Mei case, and the phone overheated really quickly.
